Circumferential abdominoplasty, also known as "circular abdominoplasty" or "circular body lift", is a more extensive aesthetic surgical procedure than traditional abdominoplasty. The aim is to reshape and tighten not only the abdominal region, but also the hips, buttocks, thighs and sometimes even the lumbar region, to create a more harmonious silhouette.

It can be combined with other aesthetic surgical procedures such as liposuction for more complete results.

  • As with any surgical procedure, circumferential abdominoplasty carries certain risks. Although generally rare, it's important to understand that the procedure can lead to complications such as infection, hematoma, excessive bleeding, skin necrosis, scarring, asymmetry or irregularities.

  • Circumferential abdominoplasty can be an effective option for addressing many specific aesthetic concerns related to the abdominal region, as well as surrounding areas such as the hips, buttocks and thighs. If you have loose or sagging excess skin in the abdominal area, as well as stubborn pockets of fat, circumferential abdominoplasty can help remove this excess skin and fat.

This procedure can also treat excess skin and fat in surrounding areas, helping to improve contours and create a more harmonious silhouette. If you have abdominal muscle diastasis or weakened body wall muscles, circumferential abdominoplasty can tighten these muscles to create a more toned and defined silhouette.

By reshaping and tightening several areas of the body, circumferential abdominoplasty can help improve the overall appearance of the figure and boost self-confidence. For people who have lost a great deal of weight, a circumferential abdominoplasty will enable you to regain a waistline compatible with your new weight, without excess skin getting in the way of your clothing.

  • You're a good candidate if you have excess loose or sagging skin in the abdominal region, as well as stubborn pockets of fat in the hips, buttocks and thighs.

You must be in good general health and have no uncontrolled medical conditions that could increase the risks associated with surgery.

It is recommended that you have some weight stability before undergoing circumferential abdominoplasty. If you are planning to lose weight, or if you are planning a pregnancy in the future, it may be wise to wait before undergoing this procedure.

  • The recovery process after circumferential abdominoplasty can be more extensive than after traditional abdominoplasty, due to the scale of the procedure and the areas treated. However, even though the procedure is more extensive, it is generally very well tolerated. After surgery, you'll wear a compression girdle to help reduce swelling, support tissues and promote optimal healing. Drains will also be kept in place for a few days following the procedure. You may experience pain (treated with medication that will be prescribed to you), swelling, bruising and discomfort in the treated areas after surgery including the abdomen, hips, buttocks and thighs. The final results of circumferential abdominoplasty may take several weeks to several months to become fully apparent. Swelling will gradually diminish and scar tissue will stabilize, allowing you to appreciate the final results of the procedure.

You have the right to feel yourself in your own skin.
