Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to correct aesthetic problems of the eyelids, including excess skin, fat pockets and wrinkles around the eyes. The procedure can involve the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both.

Upper eyelid surgery often involves the removal of excess skin and, sometimes, fat to create a more youthful, revitalized appearance. Lower eyelid surgery is generally aimed at eliminating bags of fat under the eyes and reducing fine lines and dark circles.

The procedure is carried out by qualified plastic surgeons and can be performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of the procedure and the patient's preferences. Blepharoplasty is often chosen by people wishing to regain a more youthful, rested look without drastically changing the appearance of the face.

  • As with any surgical procedure, blepharoplasty carries risks, including bleeding, infection, visible scarring, eyelid asymmetry or temporary blurred vision.

  • Blepharoplasty results can vary from person to person, and it may take several weeks or months before you see the final result. Be realistic about your expectations and discuss them openly with Dr. Laungani before the procedure.

  • If you're bothered by the appearance of your eyelids, such as excess skin, fat pockets or wrinkles around the eyes, you may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty.

You must be in good general health and have no uncontrolled medical conditions that could increase the risks associated with surgery.

  • Expect some bruising and swelling around the eyes for a few days to a week. Sutures will need to be removed by Dr. Laungani approximately 6 days following the procedure. Our team will give you specific instructions on how to care for your eyes after surgery and the expected recovery period.

  • Certain areas can be treated with injections of fillers such as hyaluronic acid to reduce wrinkles and hollows around the eyes, such as fine lines and dark circles. Botulinum toxin (Botox®) can also be used to smooth dynamic wrinkles around the eyes, such as crow's feet. Dr. Laungani will be happy to discuss these options with you to determine the best approach to meet your specific aesthetic needs and goals.

Treatment results with injectables are not permanent and may require follow-up injections to maintain the results.

Thanks to Dr. Laungani's expertise and attention to detail, my eyes have regained their radiance and I feel incredibly rejuvenated. The process was painless and the result is simply spectacular. I highly recommend Dr. Laungani to anyone looking to regain a more youthful and vibrant appearance.
