Scrotectomy

Removal of scrotal skin

Scrotectomy is the removal of all or part of the scrotal skin. It is most often performed in combination with other FtM genital surgeries (such as orchidectomy). It eliminates scrotal tissue when undesired or when it causes aesthetic or functional discomfort.

FtM or non-binary individuals not wishing to retain a scrotum.

Excess or unsightly scrotal skin.

Preparatory or complementary step before more complex genital surgery.

Correction of scars or sequelae from previous surgery.

Incision in the scrotal area.

Removal of scrotal skin and subcutaneous tissue.

General or local anesthesia with sedation.

1 hour.

Day surgery.

Mild to moderate discomfort, controlled with analgesics.

Compression dressing for a few days.

Swelling and bruising for 1–2 weeks.

Return to work in 5–7 days.

Sports and physical activity after 3–4 weeks.

Elimination of the scrotum, flatter genital contour.

Improved body congruence and reduced dysphoria.

Permanent, irreversible outcome.
